For your 2005 Honda Civic, we have parts available from Blue Ox. If you have the SI model you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2241. If you have the hybrid, you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # BX2236. If you have the models excluding the SI, SIR, and Hybrid, you will need the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit - Fixed Arms # BX2234.
With any of these base plates, I recommend using the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar - Motor Home Mount - 6,500 lbs # BX7380. This comes with the safety cables you need.
For your tow bar wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will give you a coiled connector and a clean 6-way on the front of your Civic. It also will use your factory wiring while protecting it and give you the extra functions of the 6 way for your braking system and battery maintaining.
For your supplemental braking system, I recommend the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System - Proportional # SM99251. This system allows you to set it up and then forget about adjusting it. It becomes a plug and play unit. It is an installer favorite because of its reliability and ease of install. It uses your brake light signal and an inertia sensor to give you proportional braking and deceleration assistance with no false braking.
The last thing you will need is a high-low adapter. I've attached an article to assist you in determining what you need and have linked the page of all your options for your convenience.
