Brake Controller and Wiring Recommendation for a 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac
Question:
If I already have a 4 prong trailer connecter on my 2003 explorer sport track, does that mean the wiring is also there to upgrade to a 7 prong connecter and brake controler? As with the F150.

Unlike some other vehicles, such as the Ford F150, there is not a port under the dash of your 2003 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that you could simply plug into and have a brake controller ready to go.
If you are going to be installing a brake controller and the 7-Way plug at the same time, I would recommend getting the brake controller installation kit # ETBC7, which includes everything you will need to complete the installation.
I included instructions for the # ETBC7 as well as a video of this kit being installed onto a similar vehicle as yours for you to check out also.
If you have not picked out a brake controller I would recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller, part # 90885. This is one of our best selling brake controllers because it works well and is easy to use. I attached installation instructions below for you to check out.
