Compatibility of the Thule Hitching Post Pro and Curt Hitch Receiver on a 2015 Toyota Sienna
Question:
Hi, I am considering finding the right hitch and rack for my 2015 Toyota Sienna XLE and 20 inch kids bike. So far based on my research Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2inch Item # C13105 seems to be a good fit for my van. If thats the case would Thule 4 bike rack Item # TH934XTR be a good for this hitch and would it support 20 inch kids bike without an adapter or would I need to get that separately? Also, I notice a lock sold separately but other than that what else would I need? I am trying to determine by installing this hitch will it keep hitting the surface. When checking with dealer, they mentioned that toyota does not recommend installing hitch with this model because of its low profile and likelihood of hitting the concrete each time you up a driveway on a slope or something like that? Could you please advise? Also, how easy it is to remove and reattach this particular model of the bike rack from the hitch as needed? Thanks.

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13105 that you referenced is a great option for your 2015 Toyota Sienna to carry a bike rack with. Although adding a hitch receiver to any vehicle ultimately reduces the ground clearance, I wouldn't be too concerned about that. When we installed the Curt hitch on a similar 2015 Sienna we found there to be about 10-3/4 inches or so of ground clearance which is a very typical measurement for most vehicles.
The Thule Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR is one of our more popular bike racks because it can hold 4 bikes and includes the anti-sway cradles to help prevent bike-to-bike contact. To add a bike lock you will need part # TH538XT and to add a bike rack lock you will need part # THSTL2. This will help to deter theft of your bike(s) and bike rack. You might also be interested in getting the Lock Cylinders # TH450200 which will allow you to use the same key for both locking devices.
We have had some customers install smaller kids bikes without using an adapter bar, like part # UB01, but since the bike frame doesn't have a horizontal cross tube they have to get creative. To ensure that a bike without a horizontal cross tube, like a traditional mens bike has, sits level and has the best ground clearance during transport we recommend using an adapter bar.
To address your question about removing the bike rack, it does weigh in at around 40 lbs so if you can easily maneuver 40 lbs it will be no challenge at all.
I have attached some review videos for you to check out as well.
