Replacement SpeedKnob and Wedge Assembly For Yakima Ridgeback 4 Bike Carrier
Question:
We have a Yakima Ridgeback 4 bike rack Part Number 1034500 Rev C on the Instructions. After arriving on out trip transported 4 bikes we noticed the SpeedKnob and Wedge Assembly completely fell off during our trip. The rack is still in the hitch housing and we cannot get it out. What could have caused that? If I install this new speedknob and wedge assembly P/N 8880508 will we be able to remove the rack?

I am unsure of what could have caused your Yakima RidgeBack 4 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # Y02458 to lose its Speedknob. The only thing that makes sense to me is that it wasn't tightened or locked correctly, or the knob was faulty and came unscrewed. The wedge may still be in your hitch. I recommend the Replacement SpeedKnob and Wedge Assembly for Yakima Bike Racks # 8880508 and trying to connect it without the wedge to see if it is still in place.
If it is there, it may need some help getting dislodged but should eventually help you to remove the rack. If it is not there, then adding the wedge and SpeedKnob should help you remove the rack by helping you unbind the rack shank.
