Brake Controller Installation on 1993 Ford F150
Question:
My Dad wants to use my camper for hunting. He has a 1993 Ford F-150 and it has a 4 pole standard boat trailer wiring currenty installed we want to install a brake controller and a 7 way connector to use for the camper. I am fairly handy and want to save him money by installing it myself. Can you please help me out? Ultimately, we would like to have something that we could use for his boat and also so he can borrow my camper whenever hed like. Please help me think about how to hook up the controller and how to hook up the 7 way blade type.

First, you will need to choose a brake controller. I would recommend a proportional controller like the Tekonsha Prodigy P2, part # 90885. The P2 is very easy to use and easy to set up which makes it our best selling controller.
You will also need our Brake Controller Install Kit, part # ETBC7. The kit contains everything necessary to install your controller including all wiring, hardware, circuit breakers and an adapter that will convert your existing 4-pole to a 7-way connector.
We have some excellent online help articles that will assist with the installation. We also have an install video that shows how the install kit is used. The video shows a controller being installed on a different vehicle than yours, but the procedure will be identical.
