Platform Bike Rack Recommendation for 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that Clears Rear Spare
Question:
How long of a hitch extension would you suggest to get for this rack to put it on a Jeep Wrangler. Would this one suffice? Roadmaster Anti-Rattle Hitch Extender for Tow Bars - 2inch Hitches - 7-3/4inch Extension Item # RM-071-1075

I really don't like recommending hitch extenders with bike racks as they cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent and they add quite a bit of movement. That being said the part # HE06 would most likely work well.
The best solution for a platform rack that we have would be the Thule T2 Pro XTR part # TH83JV for a 2-bike or the # TH69TX for a 4 back rack which has 7 inches from the hitch pin to the closest wheel rail.
If you need more clearance, you could go to a a hanging rack like the Thule Hitching Post for 4-bike rack # TH934XTR which has a distance from center of hitch pin hole to upright bar of the carrie of 13-1/2 inches.
