Will E-Flex Suspension System And Heavier Leaf Springs Stop Trailer From Bottoming Out
Question:
I have a 24 Cargomate enclosed trailer with tandem 4800 lb dexter axels. The current springs frequently cause my trailer to bottom out when I go over bumps. I am looking to change them out with 6 leaf springs at 5300 lbs as well as change out the equalizer to either an E-Z Flex or Equa-Flex and all related bolts, including spring u-bolts. Will upgrading to a 6 leaf configuration, heavier rated spring, help with the bottom out issue? Will I lose any clearance with the E-Z Flex or Equa-Flex equalizer. The dimensions that I got today are below: Springs: 4-leaf, 25 long eye to eye I jacked up the trailer to get the measurement but am assuming they might be a little flattened Equalizer: 5.75 wide, 2.5 tall U-bolts: 3.5 from bottom center to bottom center of each bolt Ive also included pictures. Thanks again

The E-Z Flex suspension system like part # K71-652-00 will help absorb road shock and may be just what you need on your 24 ft Cargomate trailer. These equalizers measure 5-1/4 to 6-1/4 inches long (measured from the center of one eye to the center of the other eye). These include the bolts, shackle links and rubber equalizers.
Upgrading to a heavier spring will normally make the ride a bit stiffer. The leaf springs we offer for a 5300 lb axle is part # SP-222275. This spring measures 24-7/8 inches eye-to-eye.
You do want to make sure you do not exceed the load-carrying capacity of your trailer.
