No Power To Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 After Installing On 2002 Ford F-150
Question:
Im trying to install a Tekonsh voyager brake controller in my 2002 f150. I bought a plug for under the dash and matched up the wires but got no lights on the controller. Itook a tester and tried the wires from the plug, and black was hot and the red came on when I stepped on the brake but still no lihgt. Then Itouched the tester to the blue brake wire and the light turned green. what could the problem be.

It sounds like there is a bad or weak ground in the system. The reason I say this, is because circuit tester must be grounded when testing the wires. When you tested the Blue wire, the controller sensed a trailer connection, as there was a complete circuit. I would check the White wire on the brake controller, then check the ground connection to the 7-way. You will also want to check the ground connections on your trailer and the ground connections for the brake magnets.
Also, the correct connector for under the dash that you will need is Tekonsha Wire Replacement, part # 3035-P. It sounds like you have the Universal Brake Control Wiring Adapter Ford, part # 3035-S, which will also work. To use part # 3035-S, you would match the wires up color for color to the brake controller wires.
If your 2002 Ford F-150 does not have a factory 7-Way, you will need to install the Ford Replacement OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, part # 118242, which includes the fuses and relays you will need to install.
I have linked a video installation of a brake controller which shows the installation of the OEM Tow Package Wiring Harness, part # 118242. I have also linked and FAQ on installing brake controllers on Ford Trucks.
