Recommended Trailer Hitch For 2017 Toyota Prius

Question:

I see there are two hitches available for the 2017 Toyota Prius: the Draw Tite part # 24944 and the Curt # C11473. Can you please explain how they are different and which one is the better hitch for this car? I also see that the Curt replaces another model, number 11426...how is the 11473 different from the 11426? Thanks!

The trailer hitch I recommend for your 2017 Prius is the Draw-Tite # 24966. This is a class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.

I recommend this hitch over the Curt Hitch # C11473 because any non-trailer loads used in the Curt hitch requires the use of a stabilizing strap like part # 18050. It can be tough finding a location to attach the strap.

The installation is similar for both of these hitches as they use the same attach points on the vehicle frame.

Both of these hitches are designed to fit the Prius. If you have a different model Prius like Prius c, Prime, or V model, let me know ad I will be glad to make a recommendation that will work for you.

Concerning the Curt 11426 trailer hitch and it being replaced by the # C11473, the hitch may have been modified due to the attach points on the vehicle or possible clearance. We have not been told why it was replaced.
