Roof Mount Cargo Basket Recommendation for a 2011 Honda CR-V with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

Will this roof rack mount to the factory cross bars of a 2011 Honda CRV without modifications: rails are 27 1/2 inch center to center, 2 1/2 inch wide rails 30 in total width? Also, can the mounting hardware be turned upside down to have the U-bolts down to prevent damage to cargo bags?

The Thule Canyon XT Roof Mounted Cargo Basket, # TH859XT crossbar spreads between 20 inches and 37 inches when measured center to center. Since your 27-1/2 measure is in this range, the carrier will fit.

The mounting hardware should not be turned upside down because it would be unable to grip the cross bars appropriately and safely. However, this will not be a problem. The Thule Canyon has a cover over the mounding hardware. You can also purchase locks to secure this cover and deter theft. The locks are part # TH450400.
