Tekonsha wiring part # 118242 is an OEM-equivalent replacement part for trucks with factory-installed 7-way trailer wiring. This item is not intended to allow converting a 4-pole flat wiring harness to a 7-way, but we do have that kit.
Part # ETBC7 is a complete 7-way installation kit that allows converting a 4-pole wiring setup to a fully-functioning 7-way type. The 4-pole plugs in to the mating connector on the included 7-way (part # 37185 by itself) and you then do need to make the other circuit connections. Those three other circuits are 12V trailer power (to maintain a charged-up trailer-mounted battery, for example), for reverse light signals and for electric trailer brakes.
The all-inclusive # ETBC7 kit has every part you need to convert your truck's wiring to the 7-way format. I have included an install video and article to help you.
