Supplemental Braking System Recommendation for a Winnebago Flat Towing a 2007 Jeep Liberty

Question:

I have a 2007 Winnebago Voyage 33.6 motorhome. I want to flat tow my 2007 4WD Jeep Liberty GVWR 2541 lbs. I want to purchase a brake control system for the lowest possible cost used preferable. I am planning an RV trip of 10,000 miles across Amercia / Canada. I have been quoted a system for $1,200 which seems awfully high. I dont want to purchase a system that comes with all the bells and whistles. Can you help find such a system?

I can absolutely help you out with choosing the best supplemental braking system for the Winnebago and Jeep Liberty. First, I have included a link to all of the available supplemental braking systems we carry. I usually recommend the Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Proportional Braking System, # RM-9400, because it is proportional and sets up in minutes. But it is on the expensive side.

If the Winnebago has Air brakes or Air over Hydraulic brakes, you can go with the Roadmaster BrakeMaster with BrakeAway, # RM-9160. This system is cheaper but it is much more difficult to install. I have included a link to the installation instructions to give you some idea of what is involved. You may also need a seat adapter, # RM-88149, so the system can be properly installed.

All 3 of these systems have a breakaway system built in. So if the Jeep somehow became disconnected from the RV, the breakaway system would apply the vehicle brakes. If you need additional components such as base plates, a tow bar, safety cables, and a light kit for the Jeep, we have many options available. I have included a link to our flat towing main page.
