Will Second Friction Sway Control Help Sway on 35 foot Long Trailer
Question:
Hello. I have a 35foot travel trailer that I pull behind my half ton, 2016 GMC Sierra with the upgraded max tow package. Im currently on a Husky chain WD hitch with 1200lb round bars and sway control friction bar. Last week I hauled our new camper for the first time and the sway induced from the 20mph crosswind was ridiculous. With little wind, it hauls fine. I was wondering if adding another friction bar to the left side would be enough to reduce the sway like the Centerline TS or Equalizer systems? Or is it more beneficial to upgrade to the Husky Centerline TS setup? Thanks,

Typically what we recommend is if the trailer is longer than 26 feet then a second unit should be used.
On some but not all of the weight distribution systems, there are two tabs for the sway control system.
Typically, to add a second sway-control bracket to their WD hitch, the Draw-Tite Sway Control Tab, part # 3442 is welded on to the head of the system, giving an additional mount for the sway control ball as you asked about. If you happen to be just using a standard ball mount on your trailer this tab would work for that as well.
You can then add the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit, part # 83660 which has the ball included and can be used in the # 3442 tab.
