What Are The Correct Brakes For A 2006 Cedar Creek 5th Wheel RV

Question:

How to figure what brakes are needed to replace them. I have a 2006 cedar creek 5th wheel rv that is 38ft long and weights around 13,000 lbs.

In order to choose the correct brake setup for your trailers needs, you will need to determine two things. The axle capacity of your trailer's needs in addition to the type of trailer brakes you are using.

There are two types of electric drum brakes, self-adjusting and manual adjusting. A self-adjusting mechanism will automatically adjust the brake adjuster screw for optimum pad wear whereas the manual adjustment must be done manually every few months to ensure the break shoes are wearing correctly.

After a bit of research, I have identified that you have 6,000 lb axles installed on your RV with electric brakes. For this capacity, I recommend the Electric Trailer Brake Kit part # AKEBRK-7-SA as these brakes are self-adjusting therefore you will not need to periodically set the brake adjuster screw.
