Does Curt Hitch C15320 Have Higher Tongue Weight Capacity Than 2001 Chevy Express Van

Question:

My 2001 Express 3500 Van towing capacity is 10000 lbs. If I install Curt C15320 can I put 2000 lbs tongue weight on the hitch with total trailer weight less than 10000 lbs. Thanks,

When vehicle's only list the total trailer weight capacity and not the tongue weight capacity it is implied that the tongue weight capacity would be 10 percent of the total trailer weight. So if you have a 10k capacity you'd be limited to a 1k tongue weight. Even if you installed a hitch like the Curt part # C15320 which has a tongue weight capacity of up to 2,400 lbs you wouldn't be safe exceeding the capacity of the vehicle.
