How To Run A 7-Way Truck Connector To A 6-Pole Trailer Connector

Question:

I have a 1987 Coachman 085 SD slide in camper that I wish to use on a1999 F-350 diesel. I have spoken with etrailer about some ideas, such as the 7 to 6 loop with an extension but in reading it says the extension center pole is for the brake signal. I need about 10 feet in length since the travel would be from the hitch, into the bed under the camper and then up 18 at the far end driver side connection. Am I off base in my thinking that a connection could be made with an extension from the 7 pole female to the 6 pole female? If it would work and nothing is available commercially would you have a wiring diagram? If all else fails then I can take it to a dealer but thought I would ask first. I enjoy shopping with etrailer. Just purchased a Weight Safe WS-2 for my 2017 F-350 from etrailer and will be purchasing the TorkLift Frame mounted tie downs as soon as I get my electrical connection solved.

In order to run a 7-way to 6-pole from your truck to your trailer, you will want to mount an additional 7-way to 6-pole in your 1999 Ford F-350's bed. This will allow you to use a standard length adapter to connect the trailer and vehicle to one another without having to route the adapter up through the bed. You can do this by using our 5th Wheel / Gooseneck T-Connector with 7-Pole part # 50-97-410. This adapter will allow for the use of the original 7-way on the trailer hitch in addition to providing a 7-Way connector in your bed for 5th wheel and gooseneck applications.

Once the extension is installed, you can then use the Adapter 7-Pole to 6-Pole part # 47549 to connect both the truck and trailer to one another.
