Recommended Tire/Wheel Combos That Are Thinner Than Current 215/60-8 Tires On Trailer

Question:

I would like to change the tires on my trailer 215/60-8 w/ 5 bolt to be a taller thinner tire. I am not certain if I can do that on my utility trailer. Is this possible? If so I would like to purchase 2 new tires and rims.

You can change out your wheels from the 8x7 inch to the 8x3-3/4 inch rims. For a 5 on 4-1/2 inch bolt pattern wheels are the # AM20016.

For complete tire and wheel assemblies, I recommend the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM30140. These will be almost the same height and will be almost 3 inches thinner than your current tires. The load capacity is 910 lbs at 75 psi, so you actually gain a little capacity with this change.

Another option is the Kenda 165/65-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel - 5 on 4-1/2 - Load Range C # AM3H220 that are 16.5 inches in diameter when inflated and 6.6 inches wide. If you need the 4 on 4 inch bolt pattern, use # AM3H200. These wheels will be about 2 inches thinner, but also almost 1-1/2 inches shorter.
