Will a Brake Controller Work With a 2017 Ford E-450 Thor Super Duty RV?
Question:
Installed a trailer brake controller from Ford to the factory installed wiring harness. Controller will not work, talked to Ford and they had us bring it in to be turned on. They tried for 2 to 3 hours and was not able to get it to work. Now they are telling us that a brake controller will not work in the vehicle. We think they don't know what they are talking about, can this be true?

You can absolutely use a brake controller in your 2017 Ford E-450 Thor RV, and though I cannot speak to the specific reason the Ford brake controller did not work, Thor did remove the dash and Ford-installed electrical connections, possibly hindering the use of OEM parts.
An aftermarket brake controller such as the Prodigy P3, # 90195, can be installed; it will just need to be wired in. To begin, start by installing a 4-pole flat wiring harness, # C59236.
The next item you will need is the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controllers, # ETBC7, which is going to allow you to run the wiring from the included 7-way, and has the remaining hardware needed for your installation.
