Recommended Weight Distribution System For A Towing Setup With 400-600 LBS. Of Tongue Weight
Question:
Can you recommend the proper weight distribution hitch? I have a Lance travel trailer with a GVWR of 5500 lbs and a TW of 345 lbs. I am towing with a Jeep Grand Cherokee having rated tow capacity of 6200 lbs and maximum tongue weight of 620 lbs.

In order to choose the correct weight distribution system, you will need to measure the tongue weight of your loaded ready to tow trailer in addition to any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. This will be the total tongue weight which is what we will want to use to determine the best weight distribution setup for you. To do this, you may want to consider the etrailer Trailer Tongue Weight Scale part # e99044. I have also attached a help article to further demonstrate this process.
For a total tongue weight between 400 - 600 lbs. I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution part # FA94-00-0600 and for a total tongue weight greater than 600 lbs, I recommend the Fastway e2 Weight Distribution part # FA94-00-0800. The Fastway e2 systems feature an integrated 2 point sway control design to minimize vehicle sag and trailer sway. The spring bars can be replaced with a higher capacity should you decide to tow a heavier trailer.
