Where to Mount Winch To Pull Vehicles Up Onto Car Hauler

Question:

I am trying to find an adapter to use to tow an auto trailer and hold a winch cradle at the same time. This would allow me to hook up the trailer and then winch a non running auto onto the trailer. I am looking at the MaxxTow Dual Hitch Extender for 2inch Trailer Hitches, Item # MT70070, as a viable option. I could use the upper receiver to attach the winch and other than when actuially pulling there would be little or no weight on the upper portion of the adapter. If you know of an alternative solution, someting similar to the Granatelli 250004, I am open to any suggestions. Thank you.

Since hitch adapters like what you mentioned end up cutting the capacity of the hitch they are installed in by half the best solution is to mount the winch to the trailer so that you can avoid all of that.

You could purchase a Hitch Receiver tube and have it welded to the trailer frame like part # E-9. With a piece like this welded to the frame, you could use the Winch Plate # BDW20011 mount to attach your winch.

Then you could use the winch part # 1120210 to pull things up onto your trailer.
