Before choosing a weight distribution system you need to find your trailer's loaded tongue weight. Then you need to add that to the amount of weight you'll have stored behind the rear axle of your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado when you're towing. You want this figure to fall within the range of the system you're using. If the system is rated too low it won't be doing its job. Too high and your ride will be extremely rough.
Your trailer's tongue weight should be between 10 to 15 percent of it's total weight. To find the exact tongue weight use a scale like # e99044 with the trailer loaded.
With the weight of your trailer you'll likely be able to use a system like the Equal-I-zer # EQ37100ET. It's rated from 600 to 1,000 pounds.
If once you find the total tongue weight of your setup and it's under 600 pounds you can also use the Equal-I-zer # EQ37060ET that's rated from 200 to 600 pounds.
Both systems include the hitch ball.
