Question:

Can I tow my two wheel drive manual Chevy Colorado behind my Tiffin? Thought about buying a Wrangler, but I went with the Colorado.

There is a way for you to tow your 2017 Chevrolet Colorado behind your Tiffin motorhome however, according to Chevrolet, the 2 wheel drive models of this vehicle should not be flat towed. Some people have found a way to do this by installing a drive shaft disconnect but this would likely void your vehicle's manufacturer warranty.

If you choose to flat tow your Colorado, you would need to find a local shop that can install a drive shaft disconnect. You would also need a few additional items. For a base plate kit, you could use the Roadmaster EZ5 Base Plate Kit part # RM-523182-5. The next item you will want to consider is a tow bar. For this, I recommend the Roadmaster Nighthawk part # RM-676 as this will be your only compatible options for a tow bar while using the EZ5 base plates without the need for an adapter.

In order to access the dinghy's lighting, you will need a wiring harness such as the Tow Ready Taillight Isolating Diode System with 4-Pole Connector part # TR118821 or a set of portable brake lights such as the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights part # TL21RK. The magnetic lights are great if you do not wish to splice into your factory wiring harness however, if you don't mind doing this, then the Tow Ready harness is a much better option. To control the dinghy's brakes I recommend the Blue Ox Portable Braking System part # BLU37TR in addition to the 12 Volt Outlet Kit part # RM-9332.

According to the manufacturer, you will also need to install a battery disconnect like the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect part # RM-766 and a stop light switch like the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit part # RM-751472 if you are not use the heavy duty magnetic tow lights.

The use of high-low adapter may be required if the top of your hitch receiver is not within 3" of the center of the base plate. I have attached a help article to better explain this process.

Attached is a flat towing help article in addition to a few product reviews and installation videos for your viewing.
