Why Do I need a Stabilizer Strap to Use a 2 Bike Hitch Rack on a Curt # C11132 Hitch
Question:
Why do you need stabilizing straps when you use this trailer hitch for a bike rack? What is the danger? I would like to install this trailer hitch on a 2001 PT Cruiser to carry 2 bikes.

The purpose of the stabilizer straps is to prevent the bouncing and jarring that bike racks usually experience when hitting bumps from damaging the hitch. The strap you would want is the Curt Bike Rack Strap, part # 18050.
The reason you want to use a stabilizer strap is that you might twist your the hitch up or damage the frame of your 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser.
If you use the stabilizer strap you would have no problem carrying two bikes on a hitch mounted bike carrier.
For a bike rack I would recommend a Thule Helium Aero Hitch Bike Rack, part # TH9042PRO. I attached installation instructions and a review video for this product below for you to check out.
