Recommended Brake Controller And Trailer Wiring Connector For Easy Install In 2016 Ford F-150
Question:
I have a 2016 F150 with the 4 way trailer connection, but I need to update it to 7 way. So I plan on using the following parts Prodigy P3, ETBC7. When I look under the spare tire I see the factory connector and I see the BLUE wire for the brake control, along with the ORANGE for RV Power. Should I cut and splice in the ETBC7 or is it possible to modify product HM11140735 and use its connector. That connector looks like a match for the FORD plug. I would modify HM1140735 to add a wire for the brakes. Thanks

On your 2016 Ford F-150, since you already have a 4-way trailer connection, I recommend using the # 10-2-1 wire sold by the foot to connect the blue and orange wires you mentioned and use the Adapter 4-Pole to 7-Pole and 4-Pole # 37185. You will then just connect the black to orange, the blue to blue, the purple to the reverse power light at your tail light and the white to a clean ground.
Then for your brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 you mentioned and use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers - Ford F-150 # 22292. The adapter plug for this harness is located behind your dashboard. The tray looking holder on your dash has the plug connected behind it. You will need to gently pry your panel off to access this and remove the plug adapter from the locking tabs.
