Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2016 Toyota RAV4

Hi, I want a way to travel with my family and our 3 bikes. I cant afford the genuine toyota $490.00 tow hitch receiver, and would really appreciate your expertise. I prefer a back bike rack instead of a roof one. Thanks!!!

I will be happy to help you select a hitch and hitch mount bike rack for your 2016 Toyota RAV4 so you and the family can get out and go biking! Curt trailer hitch # C13406 is an excellent choice. With this hitch installed only the receiver will be visible. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.

There are numerous 3-bike racks you can use but I recommend a 4-bike rack because it will be easier to load the bikes and there will be more space. The most popular 4-bike rack for 2016 RAV4 owners is the Hitching Post Pro # TH934XTR. I have linked a video review of this bike rack for you.

If you want to go with a platform style rack check out Curt 4 Bike Platform Rack # C18087 which is a good value. It has the features you would expect such as the ability to tilt and folding arms for storage.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
