Is the # RM-88400 Brake-Lite Relay Needed on a 2002 Jeep Liberty When Using Supplemental Braking

Question:

I am installing a Hopkins 56203 system in my 2002 Jeep Liberty. I use a supplementary breaking system that depresses the break pedal inside the towed vehicle. Do I need the RM88400 to prevent feedback into my motorhome from the break pedal being depressed?

When determining if you will need the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit, # RM-88400, on your 2011 Jeep Liberty, there a few factors that must be considered.

If you plan to use a supplemental braking system that depresses the brake pedal, if your towed vehicle's brake light and turn signal light are on the same bulb, and if you brake lights illuminate when pressing the brake pedal when the ignition is off, then you will need to install the # RM-88400 brake relay.

The relay prevents your Jeep's brake light from overriding the turn light signal coming from your RV when you are making a turn.
