Recommended Towing Setup For 2017 Audi Q7

Question:

Looking for a sway control that I can use for my 2017 Audi Q7. The owners manual says that I am not permitted to use a weight distribution hitch. There is also a note on the hitch itself indicating that the distance between the pin in the high and the ball needs to be less that 6.25 inches. I have never seen a mount this short. hope you can help.

For your 2017 Audi Q7, if you don't already have a hitch I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # e88KR. This hitch receiver is a matte black powder coat finish over and e-base coat for excellent rust protection.

For your wiring, I recommend the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT if you don't have the factory tow package. This harness uses zero-contact-interface sensors to allow you to capture the signal in your vehicle wiring without splicing. It does require a power lead from your battery. I've attached an article to assist in running this wire.

With the restrictions on your ball mount, I can only find one ball mount that is under that measurement. It is the Curt Drawbar for 1-1/4" Hitches - 5-3/8" Rise, 6" Drop - 5-9/16" Long - 2K # C45028. You will need a hitch ball like # C40018 for a 2 inch diameter or # C40001 for a 1-7/8 inch. This will also require a sleeve reducer like # HT02 which can entirely fit into your hitch to not add that additional length. I recommend a locking pin like # BD580402 to secure all of this to your hitch.
