Can a 2 Inch Bike Rack Fit a 2009 Ford Focus with a Class I, 1-1/4 Inch Trailer Hitch

Question:

I have a bike rack that goes into a 2inch receiver hitch. Does anyone make a hitch for a 2009 ford focus with a 2inch sqiare reciever?

All of the trailer hitches for the 2009 Ford Focus, see link, are Class I trailer hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers. Even though there is no 2 inch hitch option you could use adapter # HTAD. However, doing so will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch from 200 pounds down to 100 pounds. So the combined weight of the bike rack and bikes cannot exceed 100 pounds.

Also with a bike rack, you are limited to 2 bikes maximum on a Class I hitch.

If you go with the Curt hitch then Curt also says you have to use stabilization strap # 18050 when using this hitch for any non-trailer load (such as a bike rack or cargo carrier) per their warranty requirements. I have linked the Class I compatible 2-bike racks for you.
