Location Of Brake Controller Connection Point On A 2011 Dodge Ram 1500
Question:
we are looking for the plug under the dash to install the brake controller

If you have a factory 4-flat connector or a factory 7-way connector on your 2011 Dodge Ram 1500, the brake controller port will be located underneath the dashboard and to the left of the steering column. It will be taped to another harness near the emergency brake pedal. See the picture to the right that will show the location.
If your truck did not come with a factory 4-flat or 7-way connector, you would need to hardwire the Tekonsha # 90885 brake controller to the vehicle with the Brake Controller 7 and 4 Way Installation Kit, part # ETBC7. You will also need a 4-Way connector with a tail light converter, like the Draw-Tite Wiring, part # 119178KIT.
I am including a link to a FAQ page on how to wire the # ETBC7 kit to your truck and a video link to the # 119175KIT being installed on a Mazda Tribute. The vehicle is different but the wiring principle is the same.
