Wiring Instructions for SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO on 2008 Jeep Liberty

Question:

I want to set up the SMI Stay N Play on my Jeep Liberty and it looks like this requires separate brake and turn signals to operate properly. I am thinking of wiring the brake signal from the RV to the SMI and letting the jeeps system operate the brake lights. I expect I would then simply use the RV turn signal and splice each side into the jeeps existing wiring and do the same for the lights. Since the Jeep ground and RV ground will be connected, I expect the RV signal can run the lights and that I dont need diodes ? Please confirm if I am right and, if so, which of the GForce wires do I connect my brake signal to and what do I do with the other ? While I am at it, I think my 7 pin connector on the RV has a live positive. Can I simply connect the jeep side to the positive terminal on the battery and use it as a trickle charger ?

The SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # SM99251 referenced in your question does not require separate brake and turn signals to operate properly. However, if you want to use the separate turn signals on your 2008 Jeep Liberty, then I recommend installing the Roadmaster 6-Diode Universal Wiring Kit # 154-792-118158 to connect the Jeep's lighting system to your RV's. To let the Jeep's system operate the brake lights, the red wire coming from the converter on this wiring kit will not be needed and can simply be tied off. To install the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO, you will also need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751430 for your Jeep.

Since the battery in your Jeep needs to be disconnected for flat towing, I recommend using the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect with Switch # RM-766 along with the Battery Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25. This will allow you to conveniently disconnect your battery when you flat tow the Jeep while also providing up to 15 amps from your RV's battery to maintain its charge.
