A 34 inch frame is typically what is seen on a cab and chassis truck. To verify the frame size of your 2012 Ford F-450 Super Duty, you will measure the distance from the outside to the outside of the frame rails.
If you confirm that you do not have a 34 inch frame, we have a large selection of 5th-wheel hitches and installation kits that are confirmed to fit your standard 2012 Ford F-450 Super Duty without the factory rail kit.
I recommend looking at the M5 Series 20K Fifth Wheel # RP30928 along with the Custom Installation Rails # RP50026-58. This hitch has a 20,000 pound gross towing capacity and a nice double jaw that will completely surround the trailer's king pin to ensure a secure connection. The custom installation kit will reduce the installation time on your F-450 when compared to a universal kit.
If you do not have one already, I also recommend installing a 5th-Wheel Wiring Harness like the Bargman # 50-97-410. Once installed, this will provide a 7-way connector in the bed of your truck for easy hookup with your trailer.
I have attached demonstration videos of these products for you to check out. I have also included a link that will take you to our selection of 20K 5th-wheel hitches that are confirmed to fit your vehicle.
