Will Pilot Hole Diameter Larger Than Current Tires Fit If Bolt Pattern And Wheel Diameter Match?

Question:

Im in need of a couple 13in. trailer wheels. I was looking at the Dexstar Mod trailer wheel #am20245. The center hole on my wheels is a bit short of 3in. like 2 7/8. Everything else is the same. Would the center hole dia. difference be an issue?? These would be for a boat trailer. Thanks

The Dexstar Steel Mini Mod Trailer Wheel - 13" x 4-1/2" Rim - 5 on 4-1/2 - Black # AM20245 has a pilot hole diameter of 3.19 inches. That is not an issue with your trailer that has a 2-7/8 inch pilot on the current wheels with everything else the same. ST trailer wheels and tires are not hub centric where the pilot hole size difference would be an issue. They are lug-centric meaning that the wheel is actually centered for balance based on the lugs that hold the bolt pattern tight. It will not be an issue to use these wheels on your boat trailer.

You may be interested in the Trailer Wheel Center Cap, Chrome, 3.19" Pilot Size # 319EZ to add a finished look to these mod wheels. This cap fits in that pilot hole perfectly.
