Wiring Harness for Trailer Brake Controller on a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan
Question:
I need a wiring harness for a electric brake controller in a vehicle not pre wired from the factory. I would be putting this in a 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan. i am sure there is such a product because some vehicles do not come wired for a brake controller.

If you do not already have a trailer brake controller for your 2016 Dodge Grand Caravan, then I recommend going with the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. Not only is it easy to install, it also uses an LCD screen for an easy-to-read display.
The Prodigy P3 comes with a pigtail wiring harness that you can splice into your Grand Caravan wiring as follows:
Black - 12V power
White - Ground
Red - Cold side of stop light switch
Blue - Brake controller signal to 7-Way
If you have not already installed the wiring for a fully functional 7-Way, then I recommend using the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56331to give yourself a 4-Way harness at the back of your Grand Caravan. Once you have a 4-Way, then you can install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. This will plug into the 4-Way that you already have installed and will give you a fully functioning 7-Way wiring harness at the rear of your Grand Caravan once you run the 12V Power and Brake Controller wiring to the front of your vehicle. If you don't already have a Circuit Tester, you can use the part # PTW2993 to help you find the cold side of the stop light switch like the installer does in the video.
I have attached an install video of the Prodigy P2 # 90885 (the Prodigy P3's # 90195 predecessor with the same wiring) and the # ETBC7 kit being installed on a 2014 Dodge Grand Caravan that you can follow along.
If you already have a 7-Way and you just need some additional wiring for the brake controller then you can use 10 gauge wiring, part # 10-1-1, to run the wiring along with Butt Connectors, part # 05732-2, Ring Terminals, part # DW05705-1, and a Circuit Breaker, part # PK54540, to run power from the battery to your brake controller.
If you already own a brake controller just let me know the brand name and I can check to see if we have the appropriate pigtail wiring harness for you.
