Security Of B&W Stow And Go With Or Without Locking Pins

Question:

The pin that holds the ball in place and the two pins that hold the hitch at the desired height, what diameter are they. Will a S/S locking pin work for this to keep the pieces from being stolen?

The B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 7" Drop, 7-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10040B has pins that are 5/8 inch diameter. My contact at B&W suggests that you won't want to use a locking pin because the keys can go missing or the dirt/grime makes your ball mount non-adjusting any longer. The way this hitch is designed, when the ball mount is in place and has a hitch lock like # e98882 at the hitch pin, the ball and assembly cannot be removed so all anyone could take is your pins and leave the rest of the assembly hanging but secure.

If someone were to take your pins, we have the Replacement Stainless Steel Pin and Clip for B&W Tow & Stow Ballmounts # BWTS35010. I have attached a photo of these pins measured for you. I'm not aware of pins long enough for this assembly that lock.
