Question:

these codes showed up when traveling in extreme heavy rains, with much water on the road. could water getting into plug in cause these problems? please advise, thanks,

The codes you are getting on your Primus brake controller in a heavy rain could be caused by the excessive water you said you were driving in. You probably got the S.H code which means a short and o,L means an overload.

You can test this by making the trailer connectors are completely dry and free of corrosion and testing it when it is not raining. Also you may want to use some dielectric grease like part # 11755 that helps keep moisture and dirt out of the electrical connections.

If you let it dry out and test it and are still getting codes let me know and we can do more in-depth testing of the brake controller.
