Comparing Trailer Wiring Harnesses # 56094 and # 118494 for a 2011 Chevy Equinox

Do I need the circuit protection of part # 118494 for my 2011 Chevy Equinox or is part # 56094 sufficient?

The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, # 56094, will fit your 2011 Chevy Equinox and will work to operate the trailer stop, turn, and tail lights. But, it does not have a circuit protected or powered converter to protect your vehicle wiring.

If given the option, I will always recommend the circuit protected powered converter, # 118494, because it is designed to protect your vehicles sensitive wiring. What it does is virtually eliminate the extra power draw on your vehicle wiring from the trailer. If there does happen to be a problem, the only damage that will occur is to the harness and not your vehicles wiring or other electronics.
