Recommended Trailer Hitch And Bike Carrier That Can Allow Rear Hatch To Open On 2011 Ford Edge
Question:

There are no trunk-mount bike carriers available, including the Thule Passage, part # TH910XT, that allow the rear hatch to be opened with the bike carrier installed. It could come off and damage the carrier, the bike, or the vehicle.
If you are opening the rear hatch frequently, I recommend installing a trailer hitch if you do not have one and a hitch-mounted bike carrier.
If your 2011 Ford Edge is not the Sport model I recommend part # 75992. This is a Class lll hitch and it has a 2-inch receiver opening.
If you have the Sport model I recommend part # 75728. It is also a Class lll hitch with a 2-inch opening.
The bike carrier I recommend is the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Platform Rack, part # KU74FR. This bike rack can be tilted with the bikes loaded or unloaded to allow rear cargo access.
