Recommended Trailer Hitch And Three-Bike Carrier For 2015 Honda CR-V

I have a 2015 Honda CRV. I want to carry 3 bikes. Bike 1 is a Womens Specialized Jynx Elite mountain bike with a small frame. Bike 2 is a mens Commencal mountain bike with a medium frame. Bike 3 is a 24inch boys Trek mountain bike. My oldest son is going to college in the fall so once he leaves I will be mostly carting the womens and kids bike, and only on occasion all 3. I dont have a lot $800 is too much! of money to spend on a bike rack, so can you suggest an economical, but sturdy, rack that would fit our needs? I will also be purchasing a trailer hitch. First, I recommend a Class lll trailer hitch like part # 75742 for your 2015 CR-V. I recommend a Class lll hitch because it is much more versatile when using the hitch for any bike carriers, cargo baskets or anything you want to use it for. The # 75742 has a 2-inch receiver opening.

When selecting a bike carrier I recommend a platform-style carrier that holds the bikes by the wheel because it means less contact with the bike frame and risk of rubbing or damaging the bike. The bike rack I recommend is the Kuat Transfer V2 Bike Platform Rack, part # KU24FR. This is a three-bike carrier that has telescoping hooks that hold the bike by the wheels and not the frame.
