How Many Trailer Brakes Should be Used with a 20 Amp Circuit Breaker or 30 Amp Circuit Breaker

ok so i know the 30 amp breaker is for six to eight breaks or what ever it says i cant remember but can i just use the 30 amp or would i need to instal the twenty amp as well if im only using 2 to 4 breaks can i just use the larger one will that cover up to eight breaks weather im only using two or more if you dont get it plese let me know

The recommendation for 2 to 4 brakes is a 20 amp circuit breaker, # PK54520, and for 6 to 8 brakes a 30 amp circuit breaker, # 38630, just as you have stated. Usually, you would go with the smallest sized circuit breaker for the system being used. This is so if there is a problem, it can be caught right away.

If you plan on towing trailers with 2 to 4 brakes and trailers with 6 to 8 brakes, it would be best to go with the 30 amp circuit breaker as the 20 amp circuit breaker would not be able to handle the power draw needed. But if you do not plan on towing a trailer with 6 to 8 brakes, a 20 amp circuit breaker will work well.
