The video shows how to secure objects with the mini clamp. How do you open it to release the object?

You would need to pull the handle of the Quick Fist part # QF30050 down and away from the item it is securing so that you can stretch it far enough that it's no longer grabbing the other side of the clamp so that it can be pulled out and release.
