Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2017 Honda CR-V

Question:

Do you know how much ground clearance you lose with this hitch? Do you have pictures of this hitch on a 2017 CRV? How does it compare with the Honda version? Can you still use the foot activated rear liftgate with this hitch?

The Draw-Tite Hitch # 76128 is an excellent choice for your 2017 Honda CR-V. We have not had a chance to install it on a 2017 CR-V so as of yet we do not have a photos or videos of this hitch being installed.

The hitch itself is 8-1/4 inches from where it mounts to your CR-V to the bottom of the receiver. If you measure 8-1/4 inches from the mounting points on your Honda and then from that point to the ground, that will show you how much ground clearance you have.

I couldn't find any specifications for any OEM hitch that Honda would put on your CR-V but I can tell you that the Draw-Tite hitch that I referenced has a Max Gross Trailer Weight of 4,500 lbs and a Max Tongue Weight of 675 lbs. Most hitches that fit any specific vehicle will generally use the same mounting points, so there really shouldn't be much of a difference. Keep in mind that the Gross Towing Weight of your CR-V is 1,500 lbs.

You can use the foot activated rear liftgate with this hitch. My contact at Cequent, the company that owns Draw-Tite, said that the main sensor in the middle will be blocked but you can swing your foot forward, as if you were kicking a ball, to the left or right of the hitch receiver and the sensor will activate the door.
