Recommended Weight Distribution And Anti-Sway For Ultra Lite Travel Trailer 4000-4500lbs Loaded

Question:

I have a Nissan 2016 Pathfinder with the factory installed trailer hitch. What is the best maybe several weight distributing hitch I can use with this as we will be pulling a 22 foot dual wheel ultra lite travel trailer about 4000-4500 pounds loaded. I purchased form you earlier a recommended brake control unit to be wired into the factory wiring harness for this purpose so OK there. Thanks

The best weight distribution system for your travel trailer and 2016 Nissan Pathfinder is the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System # RP66083. This system will give you a total tongue weight range (which includes loaded tongue weight of trailer and any cargo behind the rear axle of your Pathfinder) of 400-800 lbs. This is the only weight distribution system that has the dual cam features that actively control sway before it happens. This system is great for ultra lite trailers that can be tossed around by crosswinds and passing vehicles. This system works to keep your trailer in line with your Pathfinder at all times. I've attached a video of a smaller system so you can see how it functions.

The dual cam and trunnion spring bars are designed to overcome the cams for turning and then return to the grooved space in the spring bar for straight driving. You will need a hitch ball with this system like the # A-6 for 2-5/16 inch hitch ball or the # A-90 for a 2 inch ball option.

If you don't want to drill into your trailer frame, a next best option is the Fastway e2 # FA92-00-0800. This system uses brackets with trunnion bars for a friction sway control.
