Recommended Wiring Extension For Truck Cap On 2016 Toyota Tundra
Question:
Good morning. What is the best way to hook up the brake and interior lights on a truck cap. I have a 2016 Toyota Tundra double cab w/ factory 7-way trailering package and built in brake controller. Id like to stay away from tappinginch into existing wiring with butt connectors and use 1 or more e-trailer products to plug into existing 7-way on the back side above spare tire and provide brake and power to a separate plug for the cap. That way the wiring is solid and the cap can be unplugged from the electrical if needed at the bed level. Ive looked at the Curt 56000 as a starting point but not sure if this will work and what additional electrical connector I would need on the other end for the cap itself. Thank You

You are on the right track with the wiring harness with the Curt 5th wheel/gooseneck custom wiring harness # C56000. This will give you the functions you need in the bed of your truck. You can get a similar wiring harness in the # PK11893-11932 if you don't want to remove connections to access wires.
Not knowing all your cap wiring needs, I can only tell you that the wires need to connect for function and if you don't want to use butt connectors you may consider using a junction box like # 38656.
