The best way to choose a weight distribution system is to select one that works with the tongue weight you have on the trailer you are towing.
You will need to know the total tongue weight. Total tongue weight is the tongue weight of the trailer when it is fully-loaded and ready-to-tow added to the weight of any cargo you place behind the rear axle of the towing vehicle. The Curt System you mentioned, part # C17500 is designed for tongue weight between 800 and 1,000-lbs.
I have attached a helpful article that includes instructions on finding the right weight distribution shank for your second truck. I also attached a link to the weight distribution shanks we offer you can check out.
