Access Rockstar 3XL Custom Mud Flaps Interfering With Back-up Sensors

Question:

Installed the 3XL on my Ram and the part that sticks up above the main frame causes my park view sensors to set off alarm like I am backing into something. I wanted to know the best way to cut the rubber off and what tool might be used to make this simple fix. The sensors are the black buttons you can see made into the bumper. What you think?

I contacted the manufacturer on your issue with your Rockstar 3XL Mud Flaps, # A10400213. They explained to me that on many of the models that have the back-up sensors installed would sound when the 3XL was test fitted. Modifying the mud flap will not stop the sensor from engaging according to the manufacturer.

They recommend switching the ParkSense sensors off on your 2016 Ram 3500 when using the mud flap. During towing these sensors would not be of any significant use because the rear of your vehicle is now extended to the rear of your what ever you will be towing. The sensors will not be of any help when backing-up with a trailer connected. Once, you are done towing you can remove flap and turn these sensors back on. The ParkSense switches are located on the dash of your vehicle.

The sensors are designed to notify the driver if there is anything in the area of the vehicle when in reverse. These sensors operate on proximity to the vehicle at multiple angles. Even if you trim the rubber flap, the mud flaps mounting frame's proximity to the sensors will likely still cause them to activate.
