Can Invisi-Brake and Brake Light Relay Be Powered from RV 12 Volt Circuit for 2017 Jeep Wrangler

Question:

I have a 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport I want to install the RM-8700 Invisibrake system on, along with the RM-88400 brake light relay kit. My question is can I use the 7 pin connector from my motorhome as my 12 volt power source for both the brake system and relay kit instead of the Jeep battery, to eliminate draining the Jeeps battery while being towed. The brake lights on the Jeep work when the brake pedal is depressed and the ignition is off.

The power supply for the Invisi-Brake # RM-8700 has to come from the vehicle it is installed on because should the Jeep become separated from the RV it will still have power to apply the Jeep brakes. The brake light relay # RM-88400 is not as critical because should the Jeep become separated whether or not the brake lights override the turn signals is moot at that point. But it should still be connected to the Jeep battery.

To provide a maintenance charge to the 2017 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited battery. To keep a maintenance charge on the battery I recommend using a harness such as # BX88206 with the tow bar wiring you will be using so that you can run a wire from the connector at the front of the truck to the vehicle battery.

There are a couple of ways to do this. First, you can tap into the running light circuit in the tow bar wiring but to provide power to the battery the RV running lights would have to be on all the time. Or if the connector at the back of the RV has a working 12 volt circuit you could use that circuit instead.

Which ever way you choose you would just attach the wire to the appropriate corresponding pin at the back of the connector that will be at the front of the truck and the other end of that wire will go to the positive battery terminal.
