Troubleshooting Yakima SKS Lock Core that is Jammed and Corroded

Question:

I pulled out the housing on my rake ski rack. Can you tell me how to get the lock mechanism to rotate again. It is pretty corroded it seems. I still have the key, but it wont budge.

I would try some lubricant like WD40 to clean the lock. Make sure to get the lubricant inside the lock. You can often slide the key in the keyhole to work the lubricate into the lock mechanism.

If you can't get it to work still you may need to replace the lock core. Replacement SKS Lock Cores can be ordered to match the same lock number you have. You'll need the existing lock core number, and use part # Y8771-#### with the last 4 characters being your lock number. For example, part # Y8771-A136 is for lock A136.
