Recommended Electric Brake Controller And Wiring Harness For 2001 Chevy Suburban

Question:

Thanks for the quick answer. I was also looking at the Draw-Tite TK63VR with the 3025-P adapter. What's the disadvantage to that one? It's quite a bit less expensive.

For your 2001 Chevy Suburban, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. This brake controller is a proportional brake controller which means the same pressure and timing in which you hit the brakes in your Suburban is the same amount of pressure at the same time that will be applied to your trailer brakes. This brake controller has an easy to read LCD display that takes code deciphering out of the equation. It runs constant diagnostics and gives you a very easy to understand real-time update. It is adjustable for your driving preferences and has 3 levels of boost.

This brake controller will easily plug into your electric junction box beneath the dash of your vehicle using the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter for Electric Brake Controllers # 3025-P.

The Tekonsha # TK63VR will work fine with the # 3025-P. The biggest advantage is the cost savings as you mentioned, and really for just standard towing you will no see a difference in usability between these controllers. The big differences are the P3 can be mounted in a wider range where the # TK63VR is limited to between -20 degrees and 70 degrees in the vertical plane. The P3 is also compatible with EOH (Electric Over Hydraulic) brakes where the # TK63VR isn't.
