Best Weight Distribution System Recommendation for Towing Camper Trailer

Question:

I have a 2016 chevy 2500HD to tow my 2016 outback 324cg. I stopped camping because I had the 2015 ford F150 ecoboost with the 3.5 TT, and the sway was unbearable. I upgraded the truck and now want to make sure I have the right tow system. I currently have the blue ox, but read that the reese tow straight is much better. If this is accurate, which one would be right for me?

The Reese Strait Line Weight Distribution systems are the nicest on the market in my opinion. The spring bars are made of spring steel and the sway control system is the only one on the market that works to fight sway before it starts.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

Once you know your tongue weight you will want to check out the link I attached that has all of the weight distribution systems we carry. You will be able to select your tongue weight from the filters to see what would be rated for your setup.

For most campers the Strait Line System part # RP66084 is the best option as it has a tongue weight range of 600-1,200 lbs.

For a 2 inch ball you would want part # A-90 and for a 2-5/16 inch ball # 19286.
