Why is Hollywood Racks Bike Rack HR1400 Not to Be Used at Rear of RV
Question:
The manufacturer website states this should not be used on the back of a trailer, RV, 5th wheel or any thing being towed. What is the reason? I have a reinforced receiver on the rear of my camper that will support the weight.

Expert Reply:
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.
The best 4 bike RV approved bike rack we have is the Swagman Trailhead # S63381. I attached a review video for more info as well.
